David Beach Awards
YAOS receives three David Beach Awards
Yeovil Amateur Operatic Society has received three awards at the 2009 David Beach Awards ceremony. The annual David Beach Awards evening was held at Rookery Manor on Friday 20th March.
1) For "Oklahoma!" - March 2008
Category: Best Male in a Supporting Role - Andrew Helson as Jud Fry
Awarded: Highly Commended
2) For "The Merry Widow" - October 2008
Category: Best Female in a Supporting Role - Marie Brolly as Valencienne
Awarded: Highly Commended
Category: Best Costumes
Awarded: Highly Commended
Many congratulations to Andrew Helson and Marie Brolly for their excellent performances, and to Ann Dalley as Wardrobe Supervisor responsible for the costumes, as well as everyone else in YAOS who contributed to these achievements.
The David Beach Awards are organised by the Somerset Fellowship of Drama. This is a non-profit-making organisation with around 75 theatrical group members, which promotes amateur drama and musicals countywide, by running workshops, training days, festivals and competitions throughout the year.
