Auditions for Lady Thiang & Sir Edward Ramsay

Monday 24 November

Parts of Lady Thiang and Sir Edward Ramsey

If you are interested in auditioning for either of these parts please let Paula know by Sunday 23 November.   Auditions will be held on Monday 24 November, Edwards House, at 7.30 pm.

This is the feedback from the Audition Panel during auditions if it helps anyone:

SIR EDWARD RAMSAY
Sir Edward should present as a highly-respected, handsome gentleman. Should maybe appear slightly older than Anna as they have ‘history’ (he once asked her to marry him). On meeting her again, the dialogue exchange should reflect his lasting fondness and the glimmer of hope that still lingers despite her refusal (especially as the King shows annoyance at ‘their intimacy’). Appears to have little ‘tact and diplomacy’ on his initial meeting with the King.

LADY THIANG
A calm serene presence that demonstrates the degree of authority she has as ‘head-wife’. She shows little outward emotion, but the deep love and respect she has for King may create inner turmoil at times and dialogue delivery could indicate this personal struggle maybe, in a controlled manner. She does not walk – she glides! The indication was that the Audition Panel hoped to get ‘full round mezzo-soprano’ vocals, but needed the ‘whole package’ to be right. Maybe consider making the song ‘your own’ (as long as it is fits style and context) if you feel it would benefit your performance.
